1971 13th World Jamboree Neckerchief; For Scouts and Scouters that attended this National, Council, District, OA, Camp, Unit activity or for award Recognition.
The neckerchief is part of the Scouting uniform. It is usually worn over the collar. However, some Scouts choose to roll their collar under their shirt.
Units are encouraged to pick one style for the entire group.
The Boy Scout neckerchief has multiple uses:
Identification: The neckerchief is a primary way to identify someone as a Scout.
First aid: when unrolled, the neckerchief can be used as a triangular bandage, sling, tourniquet, or to stop hemorrhaging. It can also be used to splint a broken arm or for a head injury.
Sun protection: The neckerchief protects a Scout’s neck from sunburn.
Emergency rope: The neckerchief can be used as an emergency rope when tied together.
Symbolism: The neckerchief has symbolic uses, and each Scout group often has its own unique design and colors.
