The Diocese of Ft Worth Catholic Committee Ad Altare Dei Tour was an unprecedented effort to increase Scouts participation in the Catholic Scouting Award program, conduct a Living Rosary at the annual NCCS Philmont Conference, visit New Mexico religious sites and complete a portion of the AAD Catholic Scouting religious award. The 3 patches were conceived to incentivize Scouts completion of the award, the Living Rosary Philmont program and appreciation of the religious sites during the trip.
2007 Ad Altare Dei Tour Philmont Mass
The series of silver border patches signify the participant set. Philmont 2007 Ad Altare Dei Tour Patch set. Top Patch (2 x 6 inch; 9 colors). The crest of the Catholic Scouting Ad Altare Dei Award dominates the central portion of the patch just as the Philmont “Tooth of Time”beckons our Scouts to achieve their highest goals. The unprecedented AAD Tour culminated in the Scouts participating in Philmont Mass, meeting officials of the NCCS at the NCCS annual training conference (Philmont Training Center), and conducting a Living Rosary before National Conference audience.
Welcome Philmont San Miguel
Bottom Left Tour Patch (3 x 3 inch; 8 colors). This AAD tour patch represents the origination of the tour in Texas and reaching San Miguel Chapel. San Miguel, the oldest continuous chapel within the United States, dates back to 1610 when a priest oversaw the construction. The Philmont Gateway represented by the pole and banner is a replica of the Philmont Gateway.
Scout Ranch Chimayo
Right Award Patch (3 x 3 inch; 7 colors). Award Completion. Just as our Scouts complete their award, so they completed the 2007 Patch Portrait when they successfully passed their AAD Board of Reviews The Cross completes the likeness of the AAD Award begun by the top patch. The adobe gateway and Church at Chimayo symbolizes the religious aspect of our tour. The likeness of Fr Serra represents the Catholic Church, Scouting, and the Serra Club.
